Try Me
Take a Chance Book 1

What happens in Vegas...can lead to romance. It took one wild night for Sergeant Jeremy Addison to realize that Vegas? Was a bad idea. Bloody. Bruised.

Dehydrated. Abandoned in the desert, and left to stagger down the road. The only way this leave could get worse was if his savior was his ex-best friend's sister...and the girl he'd loved since childhood.

The last person Erica expected to find on the roadside was her high school crush. She hadn't seen Jeremy in seven years—ever since the night he said he loved her, and she ran away. Losing him then had been a mistake, but wanting him now could be catastrophic if he discovered the secret that chased every other man from her life. But with a tall, tattooed Marine determined to prove he's always been faithful, can Erica resist his advances...or will she surrender ground and give love a try?

Love Me
Take a Chance Book 2

Thomas Jones has come to Vegas to win yet another account for his marketing company. But when he sits across from beautiful and sensual Brianna Falk to deliver his pitch, his desire to leave Vegas as quickly as possible is replaced by the need to get closer to her.

Yet she resists his charm.Brianna knows a date with Thomas could jeopardize her job, but he’s so maddening and insistent, she has a hard time denying him just one date. But that’s all it can be: one date. Because she has to protect her job and her secrets, even if it means giving up a chance at a life she never thought she’d have again.

Play Me
Take a Chance Book 3

Even the best-laid plans can go awry.

Single-mom Kiersten Worth knows a bottle of champagne and night of hot, no-strings-attached sex is the perfect solution to her jilted bride blues…and Garrett Kelly, long-time friend and her teenaged son’s sexy basketball coach, is just the stud for the job.

Garrett wants more from the elusive temptress than a casual affair, but he never expects it to come in the form of an unexpected pregnancy. When he proposes an unorthodox solution—move in and raise their baby together—Kiersten has to decide whether to let down her guard and open her heart to the man who secretly loved her for years, or risk losing his tender embrace for good.

Take Me
Take a Chance Book Four

Married in the morning…

Professional heartbreaker Mike Worth thrived on the chase—and dancer Morgan Collins represented the ultimate prize. But there was no way he was going to throw away his single-man status…not even for an elusive redhead with sparkling eyes and mile-long legs. So how did he let one drunken Vegas night end with I do instead of hell no?

Morgan’s life revolved around her career and she had no intention of letting a man interfere—even if Mike made her question all her rules about love. At his urging, she reluctantly agreed to give their spur-of–moment marriage a chance. But once their trial-honeymoon ended, would she choose to follow the dance and leave her unforgettable husband behind?

My Reviews:
Try Me: 5 stars
This is the first book in the series and it starts off memorably. I absolutely loved that fact that Jeremy was a Marine. Waking up in the middle of the desert is a typical thing that one would do to a Marine if they were in the desert. I thought it was awesome that fate intervened and offered Jeremy and Erica a second chance. In my opinion, this relationship started way too late, and I'm glad that Jeremy decided to go after what he wanted and not give up. I'm also glad that Erica decided to face her fears and open up to Jeremy. Well worth it in the end. Great story, loved the characters; they were all too real examples of what really can happen in life.
Love Me: 4 stars
Second book in the series, and this one would have been ranked higher if not for a bit of inconsistency. When Thomas meets Brianna's family, he's introduced to the kids with Cody being the youngest. A few chapters later Katelyn is youngest. Other than that, this was a really good story. I loved that Thomas went after Brianna, and was honest about what he wanted from her and that it had nothing to do with business. I also thought it was hilarious that he ended up getting a black eye and broken nose before the end of the book. Brianna is a widow with three kids. Their relationship started as one thing and quickly moved to something more. Thomas, I think, handled eveything wonderfully. It's not often that a man will go after a woman and not back off when he finds she's got three kids. But Thomas is the kind of man who has a big heart and enough love for not only the woman he loves, but her kids as well.
Play Me: 5 stars
This is the third book and I've just got to say Wow!! Garrett is an amazing character with so much heart and love to give, but it's always been Kiersten for him. I was pretty blown away when she tried to use Garrett the way that she did, and also that she seemed to not care that she was hurting her long time friend. I wanted Garrett to have the life he envisioned when they first slept together. Getting Kiersten to admit she wanted more from Garrett than just to be a roommate and co-parent was painful for everyone involved. Kiersten just needed to see that the one man who would never hurt her had been in front of her the entire time, waiting for her to return his love. Garrett is nothing, if not a patient man. He does get pushed to his limit though, and it takes a cold dose of reality for Kiersten to wise up to the fact that she may lose Garrett forever if she continues to act the way she does.
Take Me: 5 stars
Mike is Brianna and Kiersten's brother and Garrett's best friend. At Garrett's bachelor party he meets vivacious Morgan, and one thing leads to another. Morgan is a career focused show girl dancer. For once, Mike is shown the door, without the woman wanting more and it throws him. Thinking he won't ever see Morgan again, Mike is alright with that, until he can't stop thinking about her and sees her at the casino that Brianna works at. Once again, things get a little out of control, and then they wake up married. I think this was a tie for my favorite in this series, because Garrett's story - damn. Anyway, I thought it was great to see the confirmed bachelor Mike meet his match in Morgan. Neither one of them wanted to get married, but they did. Neither one wanted to fall in love, but they did. Now they just need to see if everything will actually work out between them. I really loved the epilogue on this one, because it ties everyone's stories together and the ending is amazing. Great job on all of these Diane! Wonderful characters that make you want them to be happy, make you want to smack them upside the head and tell them to wake up before they lose what they have, to take a chance. Because that chance could be everything and so much more.

Synopsis:
When lies come back to haunt Elaine, can she find a way to forgive herself?

We’ve all heard the comment, “Sometimes life is too damn hard.” That’s what people say when they aren’t ready to move forward with their lives. Elaine Lewis was one of those people. She had made some bad decisions, but after spending months in therapy at the Castleberry, her future depended on her ability to forgive herself. With the help of a wonderfully patient nurse, a secure and passionate doctor, and a husband who loved her very much, she was able to find the miracle she had been looking for. Life is but a dream, with many flashing moments.

Excerpt:
It was early afternoon when Elaine arrived at Arlington Racetrack. The elevator to the clubhouse was exceptionally crowded for a weekday, but to Elaine it didn’t make much difference. She had reserved the same table for the entire summer. Money was of no concern to her. If it took an extra twenty, fifty or sometimes a crisp, hundred-dollar bill to help matters along, so be it.
Having money did help with life’s daily struggles. But long range, money could do nothing to change her sadness. Unhappiness was a permanent way of life for Elaine.
Elaine hadn’t been seated for more than a minute or so when a waiter approached her table. He placed a large pitcher of lemon water and a basket of rolls on the stark, white tablecloth.
Elaine smiled, appreciative of the young waiter’s acute sense of recall. They didn’t speak much, but he smiled when she did.
As always, Elaine had not placed a bet on the first or second race. That was her time for gatherings thoughts and pulling the loose ends of the day together.
Some days she placed bets on only a few races. Those were the days when her mind wandered, remembering what she was trying so hard to forget. It was on those days that she usually picked the winners. But of course, she didn’t care. That really wasn’t why she came.
The ten-minute bell rang. It was the third race. Elaine reached inside her bag and pulled out several hundred-dollar bills. She crumpled them as she walked toward the betting counter. With a brief glance, she pointed to a number and handed the money to the woman at the window.
The race ended. Elaine had won. She paid little attention to the fact that she had bet on a winner.
A bolt of lightning flashed. Seconds later, a voice over the loudspeaker called out, “Due to severe weather, we are canceling the remainder of today’s races.”
Disappointed voices filled the clubhouse. Just as everyone seemed to be leaving, Elaine felt a tap on her shoulder. She looked up, not recognizing the young man who stood before her.
“Hello,” he said in a very mellow voice.
“Do I know you?” Elaine asked in a swift, uninterested voice.
The young man’s smile was attentive. “Yes, as a matter of fact you do. We met at an art showing. You were with Sally Braverman. Now do you remember?”
“No, I’m sorry I don’t.”
“That’s okay. It was only my art showing and my art gallery. I guess it was foolish of me to think you might remember.”
A brief but apologetic smile appeared on Elaine’s face. “Oh yes, now I remember.”
“Thank goodness,” he laughed. “I thought I was losing my touch. Although, you might be good for my ego. You know, the ego I just lost.”
They shared a smile.
Holding out his hand, the young man introduced himself. “I’d better not embarrass myself any more by thinking you know my name, so I’ll make it easy on myself. Josh Derman.”
Elaine was just about to say her name when Josh interrupted. “Elaine Lewis. Am I right?”
Elaine nodded, surprised by his memory.
Josh was just about ready to sit down when Elaine stood up. “You’ll have to excuse me, but I should be leaving.”
“Then I’ll see you tomorrow,” he said.
“I don’t think so,” Elaine responded quickly.
“You’re here every day, so why not tomorrow?”
Elaine felt uneasy. “How do you know that?”
“Because I’ve seen you here every day for the last few weeks,” Josh smiled.
Elaine didn’t know what to say, so she didn’t respond. Instead, she pleasantly smiled and walked away.
Josh didn’t try to stop her as she walked toward the elevator. He just watched her leave, wishing they had been leaving together.
As Elaine drove home, she wondered why such an attractive man, obviously several years her junior, would be interested in her. She should have been flattered, but she was just curious.

Star of Bethlehem by Sarah Daltry with Excerpt & Review

Book Info:
Title: Star of Bethlehem (Flowering holiday novella)
Author: Sarah Daltry
Release Date: 11/18/2013
Publisher: SDE Press

Blurb:
Jack isn’t a rock star. He’s not the leader of a MC. He isn’t a billionaire. Lily’s not the daughter of a mob boss, or a stripper, or a virgin with a BDSM fascination. They’re just regular college kids, who somehow found each other in the middle of all the crap and chaos of growing up.

“With you, Jack, it was the first time I ever felt real. It was the first time anyone looked at me and saw substance. It was the first time I wanted to make someone see me.”

Jack and Lily have navigated his past, her desire to move on from her family’s demands of her, his depression, and her loneliness. Now, on New Year’s Eve, they have an entire year laid out ahead of them. First, though, Jack needs to meet Lily’s family, to be welcomed into her life. It’s intimidating, but with a sweater that is way too hot and his grandmother’s ugly car, he arrives at Lily’s gleaming house on a hill, ready to open himself up completely to her.

Inside the perfect, sparkling house, Lily waits for the boy she has come to love. But Lily’s house and family are a lot like her – shiny and pretty on the outside, with a sad emptiness on the interior. Lily wants to give Jack the one thing he has always dreamed of – family and love – but can she keep him from seeing how hollow a lot of the picture perfect life he fantasizes about really is?

This is a novella length work that follows Forget Me Not and Lily of the Valley.

Excerpt:

“I have a present for you,” she says.
“I told you. I want nothing but you.”
“I know, but I’m excited. First, though…”
“Yeah.”
This is terrifying. If I screw this up, it could ruin everything. We haven’t been together that long and although I am trying to trust in us, I wonder if Lily could stay with me if her parents hate me. What if they hate me?
She kisses me quickly on the lips and then on the tip of my nose. I somehow feel both ten and hungry for her. She’s still so amazing to me.
“They are going to love you,” she says.
“Then why are you so nervous?”
“What if you hate them?”
I hug her and breathe in her hair. “I could never hate anything that you are. We might come from totally different worlds, princess, but every part of you is beautiful.”

My Review: 5 stars
This just keeps getting better and better. I love Jack and Lily together. I wish that others in their world could see the pain that they cause with careless words and actions. I was reading this and everything was wonderful, until that moment (can't tell you, but trust me, you'll know it), when everything goes sideways. It's not right, but then it just gets worse. I honestly believe that your parents are supposed to teach you how to be a better person, but I guess Lily's Mom didn't get the memo. I hope that Jack and Lily continue to be strong in their love and faith in each other. I love that Lily has Abby back now, and so someone else who believes in Lily. I also thought it was great that Abby made time to talk to Jack about Lily and try to explain Lily's life to him. There are differences in people, but money does not make you a better person. Because, in the end, the only opinion that matters is the one you love and loves you in return. Sarah has done a fabulous job with Jack and Lily and their continuing story. I love it, and I can't get enough of it.

About The Author:
Sarah Daltry writes erotica and romance that ranges from sweet to steamy. She moves around a lot and has trouble committing to things. Bitter Fruits is her first full length novel. Sarah also has three novellas (including Star of Bethlehem, part of the Flowering series) and several short stories available.  TYLER
‘You can’t go on living like this. This is the old you. The you before you promised me that you’d never do this to yourself again. I love you so much and can’t watch you do this to yourself.’
‘Well then leave!’ Her stale breath hits me. The feral tone that spews from her mouth smacks me straight across the face. Her words sting like a bitch, but I’m trying not to take it personally.
‘You don’t mean that. You love me too, I know you do.’
‘Do I?’ Petulant eyes stare me down. I swallow hard. Why is she being so damn difficult?
‘Well if you don’t love me, damn well pretend Mackenzie! Because each and every second I’m not with you is like torture for me and I can’t accept that you don’t love me enough to want to let me help you get through this.’ Her expression softens just a little, but it’s enough to let me know I’m making headway. Levi is still standing in the bathroom doorway, the quiet spectator while all our back and forth is going on.
In my sternest voice possible, I issue her an order.
‘I’m going downstairs. I’m going to put the kettle on and make coffee for all of us. I’m going to make you a sandwich, which you’re damn well going to eat. Then we’re going to talk about anything you want to talk about, but whether you like it or not, we are going to talk. We’re going to talk until it doesn’t hurt anymore. I’m here for you and I’m not going anywhere. Levi is going to help you get cleaned up and you’re not going to give him a hard time about it. I know you’re hurting, Mack, but we are too. Your pain is our pain.’
I kiss the tip of her perfect little nose before rising to leave. Levi’s eyes lock with mine, respect silently offered as I make my way out.
‘Tyler!’ I swivel around, Mackenzie’s desperate plea grounding me to the spot.
‘Yeah?’
‘I do love you, you know.’ Tears trickle down her cheeks, falling into the bath water as though they are the most inconsequential thing in the world. They aren’t, though. They’re everything. It means she isn’t far enough gone not to feel anything.
‘I know you do, baby, I know you do.’

Excerpt:
He sits in front of me and brings me to his chest. Our flesh is hot and sticky where it touches and I can’t stop the ache between my legs. His breathing is ragged and he tightens his grip on the back of my head as he tries to slow it. I am hurt or angry or frustrated, but I don’t know which. He runs his hands along my entire body and I push against him, needing him and not knowing how to accept his denial.
I want you, Nora. I have wanted you since I saw you. You are gorgeous. However, there are secrets that... Please understand, the steps that you want to take will reveal things. This cannot end well for either of us. I don’t want to make you suffer, but I am fated to suffer. Don’t make me bring you with me into the darkness. I can’t bear to lose you.’
I sense the pain that grips him. The darkness that he speaks of sounds frightening, but I don’t feel fear when I face him and meet his eyes. ‘I will follow you anywhere. Dark or light. Stop trying to make my choices for me.’
Our lips meet again, but it is with doubt. Neither of us knows what will happen if we are to move forward, but I want to have a chance to find out.
My body is still crying out for him but now my mind is calm. I want him, but I want him when he knows that I’m ready for whatever that means. His hands touch me and his caresses are soft. We both slow our breathing and I try to let my will match his. When he pulls away, he gathers the picnic and looks at me with longing and a hunger I do not recognize. It’s not sexual, but desperate. Almost as a dying man looks in the last moments of his life.
In three days,’ he says, ‘I will meet you again at the church where we first met. In the meantime, I want you to look something up and if you do not appear at the church, I’ll know that what you found changed everything.’
Okay,’ I say warily. I’ll do anything he asks, but his fear scares me. What kind of secrets can he possibly hold? Little right now could stop me from going to him in three days.
Find the name Charles Samuels. He was an Oxford student in the 1960s. And then we shall see how much of the darkness you are willing to face.’
I’ll look him up, but Alec, I’m going to be at the church in three days,’ I say.
For your sake, Nora, I hope that you’re not.’

Genre isn't as important as telling a story about people and how their lives unfold. Sarah tends to focus on YA/NA characters but she's been known to shake it up. Most of her stories are about relationships - romantic, familial, friendly - because love and empathy are the foundation of life. It doesn't matter if the story is set in contemporary NY, historical Britain, or a fantasy world in the future - human beings are most interesting in the ways they interact with others. This is the principle behind all of Sarah's stories.

Sarah has spent most of her life in school, from her BA and MA in English and writing to teaching both at the high school and college level. She also loves studying art history and really anything because learning is fun.

When Sarah isn't writing, she tends to waste a lot of time checking Facebook for pictures of cats, shooting virtual zombies, and simply staring out the window.
