Gabe is a
private investigator by day and demon slayer by night. After losing loved ones,
he vows to defend people from a threat they don’t realize exists.
The
relationship is supposed to be strictly business, but fighting demons together
stirs up emotions they never expected. Turns out demon fighting is a breeze
compared to facing their scarred pasts and even worse - hearts.
My Review: 4 1/2 stars
This was a very good book for an afternoon read. I loved how Tegan learned about her family history while she was also fighting to stay alive. That was quite an interesting twist. I also really enjoyed the was that Tegan and Gabe seemed from the beginning to be a match for each other, in many ways. Tegan is a fighter, she's survived an attack that she didn't know was demonic until Gabe told her so. Then she had to wrap her mind around that. That's difficult, to alter your reality to fit a new one, knowing that everything you knew was not really real. I thought that Tegan carried it off well. She seemed to thrive with newfound knowledge and the survival instincts of a natural born fighter. Soemthing that she and Gave had in common, since he is a Slayer. Gabe does his best to protect his heart, but when he finds out the truth about Tegan and who she is, he has a tough choice to make. I always love Lisa's characters, she finds a way to make them interesting and makes you care what happens to them. The storyline is always moving forward, bringing a little more of the past out to see the light and let you into the characters mindset a bit more with each page. Loved the ending. That was pretty awesome.
