Synopsis
"A heartbreaking tale of letting go and learning to love again. A jaw-dropping debut novel you have to read.” - Helena Newbury, New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author.

How do you start over when you gave everything to one life, one plan, and lost it all?
Althea refuses to allow herself to love again. Imprisoned in grief at twenty-four after her husband’s sudden death, she’s convinced her heart died along with him. She spends her days honoring his memory by clinging to the legal career he helped her to build and to the remaining pieces linking them together.

Griffen’s been running from his past. Despite success as an author and investigative journalist, he’s been traveling through life on autopilot. For a decade, he’s chosen perilous adventures and meaningless sex over the danger of any attachments. When he finally returns home to Pittsburgh, he’s slammed by the awakened memories and regret he’s spent years trying to escape.

A chance encounter brings them together. Their instant desire for each other – and the bond they discover between them – shocks them both. Despite her best efforts, Althea can’t resist Griffen’s charm or his intriguing proposition – if she agrees to a no-strings affair with him for the two weeks he’s in town, he swears he’ll walk away when their time is up. Assured she can test the waters of a new life while keeping her vow never to betray her husband’s memory by opening her heart to another, Althea throws herself into the escape Griffen provides her.

Their perfect plans go awry when the intensity of their connection overwhelms them. Will they risk it all on the chance of something great together…or will the power of their secrets and guilt tear them apart?

Excerpts
Althea leaned back and forced a smile and laugh as she looked around. Her brazen pretense was tossing kerosene on Griffen's fiery emotions.
With each nervous dart of her eyes, Griffen's heart pounded with more anger. He leaned closer and whispered hotly in her ear, "Is that better? Am I making you uncomfortable? God forbid someone thinks you aren't a perfect widow pining away alone after all these years. That you're still living an adult life," he growled. "Maybe I should ignore your rules and touch you anyway. I know you like it when I do."
"Stop it, please." She breathed slowly, calming herself. "We can touch. Just not here."
"Fine. I get it." Griffen couldn't stop how angry he felt.
The irony wasn't lost on him. Most women he'd been with begged him to be serious with them and tell the world they were together. That had never appealed to him, until now. Yet here was this beautiful, desirable woman that he wanted to express affection to and she couldn't bear to let anyone know they were together. He hadn't even realized how furious it made him until he found his heart was racing and he was feeling hot with anger.
Althea must've sensed it because she leaned over and whispered, "No. You don't get it, and you shouldn't have to. This is my thing. My issue." She looked around to see if anyone was staring at them and looked into his eyes. "I do want to touch you. I want you to touch me." She swallowed and lowered her voice even more. "Very much."
"Fine," he gritted out. When he looked down at her, with her eyes turned up so full of concern while her lips parted and she panted just a little from the desire that coursed through them every time they were near each other, his heart pounded for a different reason. "I need to touch you, too...everywhere."
"Yes, please," she whispered.

My Review: 5 stars
This was such a good read, I really didn't want it to stop. When it was over, I wanted more. I felt so bad for Althea, carrying guilt for her husband's death. More so, because her mother in law actually told her that it was. I didn't like her very much throughout the entire book. Carol made Althea feel bad for wanting to move forward with her life, insisting that she was still Jack's wife, not his widow. I absolutely loved what happened all the way through with Althea and Griffen. Originally, Griffen thought one night would be enough.Served him right that she was gone when he woke up. Fate wanted these two together though, because they saw each other again that same day.  Turns out Griffen was Jack's childhood best friend. Then Griffen thought he would just pass two weeks with Althea, no commitment, just fun, then it just wasn't enough at all. Griffen hated the hiding, and reached a point where he didn't want to do it anymore. I loved how Griffen evolved from a serial one night stand guy to wanting everything with Althea. I also loved how he was with Johnny, how he reached out to Althea's friends, Jenna more than Aubrey, to help him figure out how to get things moving with Althea. More than that, I was so happy that through his work, he was able to find out the real story of what happened to Jack and who was behind it. There were some scary moments in this, some real heart breaking ones - in good and bad ways too. There was so much more to this book than what I've written here. It was so good, I really wanted to give it more stars than five. The writing drew me in and kept me attached to the story all the way through. I loved the characters, for the most part, and I really can't wait for the second book to come out! I would love more from these characters. Excellent job Chloe, I really enjoyed everything, from the first page to the last.

My Review: 4 1/2 stars
This was a fantastic, funny, yet intense book. I loved getting to know Laney Briggs a little bit. I loved her town, it's small and everyone knows everyone. Small town life, that's how it goes. Laney is set to get married to Nathan, the sweet veterinarian in town. Laney starts getting notes warning her off, and she's confused at first. Then when the investigation starts Gunner Wilson, Texas Ranger comes back to town. Hot, sexy, confident and he wants Laney back, and he's not hiding that fact from anyone. They have to work together to solve the case. It's not easy on either Laney or Gunner, but he's relentless. Then there's Luke, another hot cowboy, who's got money and has tried many times to pay off Laney's fiance to leave her alone. That's just the start. There are so many things that happen. Jodi wove a complex story with danger, intrigue, love, lies, bitchy parents, betrayal, sexy cowboys, a past that's still not over, and everything else that's going on. The ending surprised me, and that's a good thing. I couldn't put this down once I started it. I'm looking forward to more books with Laney and Gunner (hopefully).

Author Bio:
Jodi Linton grew up across the street from a cow pasture, where she was more likely to be seen selling Kool-Aid in a Dixie cup at ten cents a pop, or inviting neighbors over to watch one of her plays staged on her father’s Bass boat.

After a few years of mucking it around with the roughnecks, dust storms, and droughts, she decided to dust off her boots and head home. With a History degree in one hand and a marriage license in the other, she followed her husband in 2006 to central Texas the heartland, fabulous Austin.

After settling into the Texas Hill Country with her husband and two kids, she joined the Austin Romance Writers of America, and signed with The Belcastro Agency.  Today she can be found cozied up to the computer escaping into a quirky world of tall tales, sexy, tight jean wearing cowboys, and a protagonist with a sharp-tongue quick enough to hang any man out to dry.

My Review: 4 1/2 stars
This was a really good book. I enjoyed the give and take between Deacon and Felicity/CiCi and watching them fight their attraction. Might I say, what an attraction. They have a 200+ years relationship that is very complex. They've both hurt the other so many time through the years, and when the truth behind a lot of the hurt comes out, it's going to be painful. And costly. When the cost is sound out for solving one of their problems, it's not even a question whether it will be done. It takes that revelation for them both to realize their true feelings about many of the things that have kept them apart. When Deacon and CiCi do give in, it's supremely intense and sooo satisfying. I want to say more, but don't really know how without giving away too much. It's really good, and kept me glued to the pages until the end.

Excerpt:
He wordlessly holds out a hand to me. His chest is rising and lowering from jumping around and heat emanates from him as he holds my gaze. As I fit my hand in his, the song changes to 'Everything Changes' by Staind. The scent of home wraps around me as he pulls me into his strong arms. His palms span the width of my back as though each finger of his has to be in contact with me.

I vaguely hear Aidan say something about pancakes and then he leaves the room with a grin on his face. My attention is immediately back on Grayson. He is singing to me, bringing me tighter into his arms, his mouth close to my temple. Pinpricks of cold awareness trail up and down my back and arms. I close my eyes, clutching him to me; the front of me pressed to him. It isn't enough. Overwhelming emotion washes over me like the hands of regret.

Can I tell you something?” he whispers by my ear as the song ends.

I whisper back, “Do I want you to tell me something?”

His lips smile against my forehead. “Does that ever matter?”

Pulling back, I look into eyes that have loved me and haunted me. “Not usually.” I smile.

Grayson brings his mouth close to mine, never releasing my gaze, and tells me, “You weren't my first love.” He pauses and my heart cracks at his declaration. “You were my only love.”  And it is repaired and whole just as quickly.

My Review: 5 stars
Lindy does it again. Just when I had thought that Lily was a cruel heartless bitch from reading Incomplete, which is the first book in the series and Grayson's story, we get Complete, which is Lily's. I will admit I was too harsh and really only looked at things from his perspective. I didn't, and Grayson didn't, see that Lily broke up with Grayson so he could go and do his music and share it with the world. No one thought beyond that.
That's where we come in two years later, to people still throwing it in Lily's face how famous and gorgeous Grayson is. I will admit, that stung, and I felt badly for judging her so harshly. Lily never stopped loving Grayson, she just let him go hoping that he would come back for her. For two years, he didn't. And then he did come back, just not how she had thought that things would work. That broke Lily's heart just a little bit more, that Grayson had moved on and left her behind.
Except that's not how it really was. Grayson tried to leave Lily behind, but no matter what, he always came back to her in his mind. He tried to stop loving her, it just wouldn't work. Lily and Grayson find their way slowly back to each other, with a little meddling from concerned relatives. Just when you think they've got it made, up pops another problem that seems insurmountable. But this is a new, determined Grayson, and he's not letting Lily go without a fight. Once she realizes what he wants, she decides to fight for them too. There are more unexpected surprises, but a really happy ending. And really, what more could you ask for? Lindy once again drew me into her world and damned if she didn't make me care for a character I was determined to not like at all. Not only did Lindy make me like her, I found myself rooting for her and Grayson to overcome all the obstacles in their way. Lindy didn't make it easy or pretty, although I do have to admit I really loved the last few chapters including the epilogue. There were things that were innovative, creative and made me tear up just a bit. I loved it. As always, I am a fan and will continue to keep an eye out for Lindy's work.
