She slipped past him, and onto the wings of the stage. Her gaze fell on Mr. Voice who was tall, dark and smokin’ hot.

Holy shit, I want to lick him.

Scuffed combat boots were laced up over black leather pants that clung to muscular thighs, and his black shirt molded to the most impressive set of abs she had ever seen. Roxy wanted to trace the ridges with her fingertips.

He turned, his voice dropping low as his eyes locked on hers. His words enveloped her. “… you’re the only one.”

Her heart paused a beat before slamming into her chest at a rapid pace. His full mouth lifted into a grin that spoke of confidence as he held her full attention. Entranced, she fell deep into his eyes and the world stopped.

Until a drumstick hit him in the head. He looked over his shoulder and shrugged sheepishly at his drummer before turning back to launch into the next verse.

Mikey gently shook her shoulder. “Hey, Rox, come on. We have to warm up.”

Her head bobbed in a nod at her brother, but she didn’t look over. She muttered, “Yeah, give me a minute,” or longer.

As if he heard, Mr. Voice glanced over and winked at her before the next song started. “Blinded by beauty, falling at first sight, head over heels…” There was raw passion in his voice, and she couldn’t help wishing he was singing about her.

My Review: 5 stars
Brandy has done it again. I fell in love with her work when I read the first book in The Others of Edenton, and have loved every book since then. While this is the beginning of a new series, I love that Brandy has incorporated those established characters from her previous series into this one. I think it makes things a bit more interesting.
I love how Trevor and Roxy are attracted to each other from the start. The story mainly focuses on their relationship, but also fills in a little background for the other characters that make up Trevor and Roxy's friends and family. There are also those that do not support Trevor and Roxy being together, and they are interesting characters who add to the story, and don't take anything away from it.
Trevor's main issue is telling Roxy what he is, because since he met her, he knew that she was his intended mate. Roxy believes she's human, but that's proven wrong in the course of the story, she's so much more. When faced with adversity Roxy stands tall and fights with everything she has. She's a quick learner and isn't all that shocked when she finds out what Trevor is, and what she now is.
I loved that from the beginning, Trevor was supportive of Roxy and everything that she was and did go through. He wanted to ensure that he was there for her in every way, and he said the sweetest things to her. Words from the heart are always fantastic. Roxy does go through a lot in this book, finds out quite a bit about herself and the people around her, and just takes it in stride. That's quite the ability. Most people would be freaked out, but Roxy's a fighter.
There is a lot that this book covers, and it's always good to read Brandy's work. Her characters are always unique and her story lines are from a fresh perspective. I love the world that she's built, along with most of the people in it! I'm looking forward to more in this series, and from the preview at the end of the book, I can't wait!!
