Marked by Hades (Bound by Hades #2) by Reece Monroe with Giveaway & Review

Marked By Hades
Reese Monroe

Tagline:  One choice away from eternity…

Blurb:  For 911 years, Gatekeeper companion Justin Bradford has denied the possibility of being mated to only one woman. He enjoys them all too much to settle down. So when he feels his mate’s Ahavah mark surface, his first instinct is to ignore it. But when he sees the leather-clad beauty in need of his help that’s easier said than done…
Yvonne wakes up naked on a cold park bench in a small town with no memory of who—or what—she is. All she knows is the gentle man who woke her was turned to dust when she touched him. And now the strange mark that appeared on her shoulder throbs in the presence of the raven-haired man now offering to help her…
As Justin and Yvonne navigate the mystery of her past, their bond grows, but the secrets they discover and the sacrifices that must be made could be enough to rip them apart for eternity.

My Review: 4 stars
This was quite an interesting book. While I have not read the first book in the series, this one still managed to bring me into what was going on. I will admit to being a bit lost at times, but I believe that's due to not having read the first book. I'll have to go back and find out what I've missed and see if it helps me to understand better. This story was compelling and I really enjoyed the whole concept that Reece had for her world. Her characters were complex and original, I really enjoyed that as well.
Justin is Theo, the Gatekeeper's brother and companion. He has been waiting for 911 years for his mate, and it struck me as a bit odd that after waiting for so long that he would try to ignore her. Yvonne is Justin's soulmate, and their relationship is intense and very complex. Justin helps her to remember who she is, and that makes everything more risky and intense. They are so good together though. There is a little bit of romance, action, and drama going on so it's definitely an interesting read. I will continue to read this series, because of the rich story line and the complexity of all the characters within. I'm looking forward to understanding more about this fascinating world that Reece has built, and getting to know more of the characters better as well.

  4. I've been working on the first book when I get breaks between review reading and I think what I like most about this series is that there is LOTS of action and drama! The romance is still a key factor but it's not buried in itself. Definitely grab FORGED BY FATE if you have time, it will help you with those parts that might not be as clearly detailed in MARKED BY HADES.
